Hit the Ground Running

Well, we actually did hit the ground running. We got in 5k on a treadmill during the layover in Bangkok, and another 5k along the river in Saigon. But what I mean to say is that we dove right in to the sightseeing. Day one in Vietnam, and we were on a bus out of the city for a tour of the Mekong Delta.

We took a boat across the Saigon river to Unicorn Island for some local flavor.

We narrowly escaped stings while pestering bees and steeling their honey for a local tea concoction.

We got a jungle alley rowboat taxi ride through an island to a village for some music and local fruit.

We rode some bikes through the jungle. Flat tires, warped rims, wobbling to the point of bending, but hey, you're in the jungle, baby.

We resisted the urge to pet cute little dogs and cats, who looked as sad and sickly as they looked cute. I guess the urge was not that great.

We've actually only met one person from the U.S. so far, and she was from Seattle!!

We made it back to the shore in one piece and in time to make it back to the city for some pho.
